Mannahelp is a not for profit organization founded with the goal of eradicating poverty, hunger and sustaining the environment. We intend to improve the quality of life of vulnerable people in Canada and around the world especially developing countries by ensuring they do not stay hungry.
Mannahelp was created to improve lives. We believe helping people leads to a stronger community, town, city and even the entire nation.
We regularly review our programs to ensure we continue to make a high impact in areas that require urgent assistance.
Poverty is a social problem and a major determinant of poor health.
At Mannahelp, we know poverty is not just about having insufficient money but it also means lacking necessities such as basic services (food, clothing and shelter), education and inability to eat healthy foods. We also believe children have the right to healthy living, education, and a safe childhood. Every family’s needs are different.
Our goal is to have a positive impact on the health, development and well being of children, women and families who need our help by providing them with resources and also connecting them to services that can improve their lives.
Mannahelp is always ready to work with organizations to recognize areas in the communities with greatest needs.
A situation whereby a parent will have to skip meals just to feed their children while compromising nutrition should not be an option!
Our focus is to decrease the impacts of poverty by:
- Feeding the needy. We believe every family should have access to nutritious, food that’s affordable and safe.
- Providing basic necessities for children and their families.
- Helping and connecting people with services they need.
Why We Want To Help
Access to nutritious food is important for humans to function properly and food insecurity can have negative effects on a child’s development. It is also a known fact that some factors such as ethno-racial identity, disability status and region have a role to play because some people are more vulnerable to poverty.
Mannahelp’s main focus is helping families, indigenous and racialized groups that need help, children, women, youth and single parent families with basic necessities.
”Poor’’ means lacking not only material assets and health but also capabilities, such as social belonging, cultural identity, respect and dignity, and information and education.” (source: Engle et al., 2008, page 1)
We are a registered Canadian non profit organization and we value our volunteers and donors. We thank you for your actions and for making it possible to care for the needy in our society.
“Each one of us can make a difference. Together we make change.” – Barbara Mikulski
