Message from the Founder
2024 has been a year of resilience, growth, and unwavering commitment to our mission. As a Black-led, woman-led registered charity in Canada and Nigeria, Mannahelp continues to tackle hunger, poverty, education, and sustainability head-on.
This year, with the generous support of our partners, donors, and volunteers, we have expanded our impact, ensuring that children don’t go to school hungry, families have access to food security, and vulnerable communities receive the help they deserve.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our community of supporters who make this work possible. Together, we are ending hunger, empowering lives, and creating a sustainable future.
Programs & Initiatives in 2024
Food Security & Hunger Relief – Durham Region, Ontario
Through our Food support program for the needy, we provided essential groceries, fresh produce, and culturally relevant food to hundreds of families in Durham Region, Ontario.
Our partners, including Foresters Financial, Durham Corporate Centre, Lizs NoFrills Whitby, Giant Tiger, Toys R Us, Starbucks Canada, Vaultra storage played a crucial role in helping us reach those in need. Mananhelp is also grateful for the support from generous donors: Durham Orthodontics, Cineplex Cinemas Yorkdale, Cineplex Cinemas Pickering, Margolian Dentistry, Lydia Stewart, Prasha Aimee, Grace, Rachel Arhin, Nicole Caberneigh, Orzala Quddusi, Lisa Patel and Julia Seaton.
Girl-Child Education in Nigeria
Education is at the heart of our mission. Last year, we introduced a Digital Literacy Program as part of our Girl-Child Program in Nigeria, and we are proud to celebrate its first anniversary!
Through this initiative, 59 students are gaining essential skills, learning how computers work, and developing the ability to operate them effectively.
Alongside scholarships, school supplies, and mentorship, this program is equipping young girls with the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world. Our goal remains to empower the next generation through access to quality education and technological skills.
Hygiene & Essentials
Recognizing the importance of basic necessities, we organized hygiene item distributions alongside our food distributions in Durham region, Ontario, ensuring families had access to laundry detergent, toilet paper, and personal care products.
Back-to-School Supply Drive
At Mannahelp, we believe that every child deserves the necessary tools to succeed in school.
Our annual Back-to-School Supply Drive, held each summer, plays a vital role in supporting families in need.
‘Last summer, we supplied essential school materials to over 200 households in urgent need, ensuring that students from underserved communities in Durham Region could begin the academic year equipped and ready to learn.
Thanks to the generosity of our partners and supporters, we distribute backpacks, notebooks, stationery, and other school essentials to children who need them most.
This initiative not only eases financial strain on families but also empowers students to focus on their education with confidence.
As we look ahead, we are committed to expanding this program to support even more children and help them build a strong foundation for learning.
